There’s something special about a Michigan summer evening—the warm air, fireflies beginning to glow, music drifting across the lawn, and friends gathered together with nowhere else they need to be.
That’s exactly the spirit behind one of our favorite traditions at our Annual Backyard Concert.
Each summer, we invite our guests, friends, neighbors, and community to grab their lawn chairs, pack a cooler with their favorite refreshments, and join us on the lawn for an evening of live music at the farm. It’s casual, relaxed, and exactly how we think a Michigan summer should be enjoyed.
A Hometown Stage for Bayleaf Band
The concert is especially meaningful to us because Stag’s Leap innkeepers Brett and Steven get to welcome their son, Dawson, home to perform with Bayleaf Band.
For our 2026 concert, Dawson and fellow band member Ethan returned home from college for an especially exciting occasion: the launch of Bayleaf Band’s debut album, The Butterfly Effect.
They were joined by Max Miciano on bass, marking the debut of the “Bayleaf Trio” and bringing drums, bass, and electric guitar together for a great night of music from the Stag’s Leap gazebo.
As the sun began to disappear behind the trees, the lawn filled with chairs and blankets, the music started, and our backyard became an intimate outdoor concert venue for the evening.
Two Album Releases, One Summer Night
This year’s concert featured even more new music.
The evening opened with a special performance by Violet Von, who was celebrating the release of her own debut album, Half Hidden from the Eye.
Having two emerging artists celebrate their first album releases right here at Stag’s Leap made the evening particularly memorable. Guests also had the opportunity to support the musicians by purchasing artist merchandise and taking a little piece of the evening home with them.
This Is What Summer at Stag’s Leap Is All About
While the music may bring everyone together, the atmosphere is what makes our Backyard Concert one of our favorite nights of the year.
There are no assigned seats and no need to dress up. Guests simply bring a chair or blanket, their favorite beverages, and settle into the lawn. Some arrive early to find the perfect spot. Others reconnect with friends and neighbors before the music begins.
Then the sun gets lower, the lights of the gazebo begin to glow, and the music carries across the property.
It’s simple. And that’s exactly what we love about it. Good music, beautiful surroundings, a summer evening, and people enjoying one another’s company...
